Renowned physician Gentian Toshkezi has been appointed honorary consul of Albania in Philadelphia, USA. The honorary title was awarded to him by our ambassador to the USA, Andi Bushati, who praised Dr. Toshkezi's role as a worthy representative of Albania's interests in the state of Pennsylvania, where thousands of Albanians live, writes A2 CNN.
In addition to the protocol procedures for granting the title of honorary consul, Dr. Toshkezi organized a private evening in his apartment, with a close circle of friends, to celebrate this appointment and to commit that the voice of the Albanians of Philadelphia and the surrounding areas will now be worthily represented by him.
Singer Mira Konçi brought to the Albanian and foreign attendees a repertoire of well-known and beloved songs, bringing emotions and longing. In their words, fellow consuls from several countries expressed appreciation for the tireless work of Gentian Toshkëzi, while representatives of the “Sons of Albania” association, which has been spreading our culture, language and traditions in Philadelphia for decades, said that the appointment of the doctor as honorary consul is an added value for our community.
The Albanian Embassy chose Toshkëzi not by chance to maintain mutual communication channels, and this was the least the mother country could do for a doctor that America strongly values as an irreplaceable asset. Among the titles that Toshkëzi is known for in the US are those of one of the best neurosurgeons in Pennsylvania and throughout America, where his operations have been praised by colleagues around the world.
