Even when it comes to oral health, Albanians only go to the doctor when they are in pain. Dentists indicate that oral health care in our population is still low. This phenomenon is most common among adults and especially in rural areas.
But patients tell us that due to financial constraints and the high costs of this service, they neglect their teeth, which for them do not pose a life-threatening risk. For this reason, many citizens, especially the elderly, turn to the University Dental Clinic at the QSUT for free or reduced-fee services.
Over 12 thousand citizens per year, children and adults, receive free or reduced-fee services at the university dental clinic. Belisa Kaleci, director of the clinic, emphasizes the need to increase health education on oral health. Malnutrition, according to her, is one of the causes of tooth decay in both children and adults.
On World Oral Health Day, doctors advise taking care of your oral hygiene. A decayed or infected tooth can be a cause of other diseases, including cardiovascular and other diseases. (A2 Televizion)
