A large-scale fire engulfed the village of Hoshtima this afternoon, causing significant damage to the area. The flames, which according to preliminary data started near the village cemetery, spread rapidly due to the difficult terrain and strong winds.
Two fire engines were immediately deployed to deal with the situation, while olive groves, agricultural lands and several homes further away were at risk, writes A2 CNN.
After hours of effort, the fire has been extinguished, but the damage is extensive and residents do not hide their anger and pain for what they have lost.
"May that hand wither to whoever started that fire. Great damage was done to us. The forests were extinguished. The houses are being endangered. Everything was burned. The cemeteries were also burned. We have not yet seen the condition of the coffins," said one of the villagers, who shows the extent of the destruction. (A2 Televizion)
