Despite the fact that this year, more money than ever before has been put into the state coffers, institutions at the central and local level increased their arrears. Data from the Ministry of Finance and Economy show that debts to private companies for work or services performed at the end of September amounted to 19.9 billion ALL. Compared to a year ago, the arrears have increased by 2.94 billion ALL or about 29 million euros.
"Arrears of debt are a serious problem for the management of the state budget, but for the government they are seen as a way to increase the hidden debt, to make investments even though they have no money" said Eugen Musta, an expert on the economy .
The data from "Finance" show that most of these obligations belong to the institutions of the central government with 12.27 billion ALL, while 7.63 billion ALL belong to the municipalities. The extension of arrears this year, for economy expert Eugen Musta, also came as a result of the May 14 elections.
"It has become a tradition that in electoral years there is an increase in arrears in order to increase investments in function of the elections, regardless of whether they are Parliamentary or local", said the expert.
Most of the arrears that the 61 municipalities in the country have, more than 50 percent of the total, are for completed investments. The list is followed by services received but unpaid, judgments and goods.
"It has become a culture because of impunity. Although there is a legal basis, no one respects it, causing us all to lose by not making these payments."
Due to the fact that arrears have turned into a problem that is not getting a solution, "finances" have determined their repayment in the span of 2024-2026 as a priority. (A2 Televizion)
