Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha responded harshly to Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements during the latter's visit to Dibër, accusing him of collective insults towards the men of this area and of serious failures in the management of major projects.
During the presentation of the candidates in this region, Berisha said that Rama spoke “with the language of an invader and a tyrant,” insulting the dignity of the people of Dibra. “The men of Dibra are like the mountains of Dibra, woe to the one who attacks them,” he emphasized, recalling the patriotic role of this region in national history.
"Here now I will say these words to Edi Rama: In Debar, in this hall you came with the language of an invader and the language of a scoundrel. Both. If last night in Kamza I gave you an answer by reading your Freudian psychic stream, today I have another answer. You came as an invader because you allowed yourself to undertake a collective insult. Just like your predecessors once, who these giant men, patriots, declared enemies because they stood for the homeland, stood for faith in God, for Debar and Albania. You came, you spoke yesterday as a scoundrel, of course with those ministers of yours who are jingling around in that way. Now I will tell you two, I will not give you a single word in response because the most excellent answer was given by the Dibrani in the hall, who stood up and told you that our men are wonderful. Berisha mentioned unfinished projects like the Lura road, accusing Rama of deliberately neglecting them. He also brought to attention other sensational issues such as the Tirana incinerator, the purchase of the “Garden of Eden,” and high expenses for travel and sports tickets.
"Two days ago, that 2-meter-tall man came here. He didn't say a word about why the National Road took 12 years at a time when there was every fund and project to finish in 2016. And I will say one thing to that honorable lady who told her that we are going to Tirana, I guarantee and give my word of honor that if it were up to Edi Rama, that road would never be built. Here you have the Lura road, Lura is a fabulous beauty and for 12 years it has not been able to build the road. But you fully deserve that road. It is the second road of the nation and we are very proud that we built the first 32 kilometers and I guarantee that in 2016 it would have been inaugurated with much better parameters than today. Edi Rama didn't tell you where the 130 million euros went for the Tirana incinerator that doesn't exist and your money was given.
