The world is at an economic crossroads and the main beneficiaries will be both countries that will build bridges of cooperation and countries that will not turn their backs on the United States of America. Defending Donald Trump's new policy which is leading to a "global cold war", the president of the American Chamber in Tirana, Grant Van Cleve, suggests that Albania should not distance itself from the US, as Trump's policy is state-to-state negotiation.

“As the Trump administration seeks to develop relationships country by country, Albania has the potential to benefit greatly. I am increasingly confident in the importance of America for Albania’s development. I am also more confident when I tell you that you need to strengthen your relationship with America,” said Grant Van Cleve, President of the American Chamber in Albania.

This 'war', strongly criticized by the European Union, which warns of a response with sanctions, according to Van Cleve, should be used by Albania to make as many agreements as possible with different countries, writes A2 CNN.

"We are at an interesting crossroads in the global economy, we are part of a massive transition and evolution. Albania is in a very interesting position to benefit from these transitions. In terms of relations with America, with the opportunity to develop bilateral relations and not only at the bloc level in the European Union," said Grant Van Cleve, President of the American Chamber in Albania.

The statements were made at a conference with businesses and representatives of political parties on the eve of the May 11 elections. In the absence of the Socialists, who had declined the invitation, the Democrats outlined some of the points of their program.

"The main principle of the entire fiscal package and at the same time of the economic policy proposed by the Democratic Party is sustainability. In the last 12 years, fiscal legislation has changed over 60 times, while the law on tax procedures has changed a full 180 times. We demand stability and predictability," said Jorida Tabaku, DP MP.

"Regarding the level of taxation, we support the low tax, namely the flat tax. We aim to restore it for personal income, by giving up the progressive taxation of 23%, which has negatively affected the country's economy," said Dorian Teliti, Coordinator of the DP's Economic Program.

As the countdown to May 11th begins, the American Chamber of Commerce has also provided suggestions. They extend to 7 main areas, from the demand for a new law on foreign investments, tax stability, continuing the fight against corruption to solving the property problem. (A2 Televizion)
