Tourist packages for foreigners this year are being offered in lek. This is another situation that comes from the instability of the Albanian foreign exchange market, mainly related to the Euro exchange rate. Tourist agencies are using the local currency as a result of the decline in profits in the European currency.
"In 15 years I had not seen contracts in the local currency lek, only in euros. It started last year with a few sporadic cases, but the opportunity is being seen in lek for agencies to have fewer losses and to somehow leave the burden to the international partner. Prices are given in the local currency and partners are given the opportunity to calculate prices according to the Bank of Albania as well as contracts in euros but with a range of changes", said expert Feriolt Ozuni.
But will we face price increases from Albanian accommodation structures again?
"The exchange rate, which is 99 lek per euro, should be stable, because they disrupt agreements, cooperation and misinterpretations. If the exchange rate does not change, prices will not change, but with fluctuations, prices will also adjust."
According to experts, Albania is no longer struggling to attract tourists during the summer season. Their goal is year-round tourism. While they see the same factors as obstacles every year.
"What difference does the rest make outside the summer vacation space? I will provide a service and you will receive a service from me. This is one of the problems we will face this year in human resources but also in the transport sector, not only in Albania but also in Europe," emphasizes Ozuni.
Even for tour operators, the goal is no longer to increase the number of foreigners visiting Albania, but to attract elite tourists. (A2 Televizion)
