The state budget changes again

Less than a week after the Assembly voted on the Normative Act for amendments to the 2025 Budget to fund Mira Murati's "Thunking Machine Lab" with $10 million, the budget will change again today, this time to implement some reallocations of funds.

The budget review by normative act foresees a total of 11.8 billion lek being reallocated, so far unspent by ministries/institutions, towards new priorities, mainly in the field of cybersecurity and infrastructure development projects.

Finance admits that “the implementation of the budget has been significantly affected by the electoral situation, which has caused a slowdown in the pace of project implementation, the realization of expenditures and especially in public procurement procedures.” This situation has led to deviations from the initial planning and the need for revisions.

One of the changes undertaken concerns the relocation of funds foreseen for IT projects in ministries/institutions and their transfer to the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies (NAKSH). In total, this amounts to about 3 billion lek in funds, writes A2 CNN.

The National Cyber Security Agency (AKSK) will receive an additional 3.3 billion lek for AI technology products for cybersecurity. The Albanian Development Fund will also receive an additional 1.5 billion lek for new development projects. Additional funds are also available for a number of institutions, while there is a redistribution within specific items for the Ministries of Defense, Education and Health. (A2 Televizion)
