Inflation fell in May, but prices remain high for citizens, eggs a luxury for

In Albanian markets, prices retreated slightly last month. Statistics show that inflation in May fell by 0.3% compared to April.

But if you compare prices with those of May last year, the difference is almost imperceptible – only 2.2% more.

For many citizens, this does not translate into any real relief. At the market, a kilogram of tomatoes continues to cost as much as a coffee in the center of Tirana.

Even eggs, once a symbol of cheap food, have today become a luxury for some families.

Experts say the economy is slowly finding calm after the strong price waves brought by the pandemic and the war in Ukraine. But the question that remains is: when will these numbers really be felt in the pocket ?

For the moment, the wallet of the Albanian citizen remains thin, even though statistics speak of stability. (A2 Televizion)
