The government will forgive unpaid fines imposed on citizens and businesses between January 2015 and November 2024. The decision, made less than 48 hours after Sunday's elections, includes all administrative measures for unauthorized construction, improper parking, or speeding.
Fines imposed by the National Food Authority and the State Health Inspectorate are also forgiven. The cancellation of obligations also affects those penalized during the months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is the second decision in a short time by the government, after the "fiscal peace" towards businesses that forgives fines. Citizens will have 30 days to request the cancellation of fines, while the law will remain in force for 2 months.
The forgiveness of fines came as a proposal from 35 socialist deputies, who requested that the law be passed through an accelerated procedure in January, but this did not happen. (A2 Televizion)
