Albania has the most ideal lands for cultivating cannabis. About 40% of the country's agricultural land fund can serve for the development of this crop, which will be used for medical purposes. Agricultural experts also indicate the most suitable areas to be used for this purpose.
"Up to 600 meters above sea level, cannabis is cultivated. Within this altitude, we choose endless lands. We should avoid embankment lands if possible. It is best to make choices in balanced medium soils and less in sandy and embankment soils. From the classification of lands, almost 40% of the agricultural fund are lands of this category that can serve", said expert Ilir Kristo.
Finally, the law's regulations also define areas in which such activity will not be undertaken. Such as plots not within protected areas, pastures, meadows, military areas, away from bee parks, and not on lands with high concentrations of metals.
"Cannabis harms bee colonies. They lose orientation and dozens of hives are destroyed. A condition has been put in the law where areas are at least 3 km away from cannabis parks."
A scientific laboratory is expected to be established near the Agricultural University of Tirana for the quality of cannabis in the country.
"We have done a project with scientific equipment to cover this field. We will cover all the requirements to evaluate the quality cannabis that is cultivated in Albania. Through the laboratory, we support scientific research for this sector."
The cannabis fields will then be surrounded by walls 25 cm thick and 4 meters high, which will be guarded 24 hours a day by the police. (A2 Televizion)
