Thefts continue to remain a disturbing problem for citizens, especially when the perpetrators target cars that in many cases have been used by criminal groups for serious events.
Police data show that on average two vehicles are stolen a month in Tirana in the last two years.
During 2024, 20 cases were reported in the capital, of which 12 were solved and 4 people were arrested. While in 2023, 41 vehicle thefts were reported, of which 13 were discovered with 7 perpetrators in handcuffs. Expert Faik Basha says that despite the fact that the number of thefts in the capital is decreasing, in other regions of the country the number is higher.
Expert Basha says that after the tools are stolen, they are kept hidden for a period of 6 months, and then handed over to criminal groups.
According to him, in 90% of criminal events, such as murders or mafia assassinations, the perpetrators used stolen tools. (A2 Televizion)
