Monday was a day off for state institutions, but it had no effect on the court decision that forces Sali Berisha to appear before SPAK, and equally on his electoral campaign for May 11. The former prime minister, accused of "corruption" in the "Partizani" file, was welcomed by dozens of supporters at the entrance to SPAK, before whom he appeared wearing his campaign hat.
His stay in the building lasted less than 10 minutes, during which time, in addition to signing the petition, the opposition leader left the following message in writing for the head of the Special Structure: "The closure of the McGonigal affair by Altin Dumani constitutes an international crime. I guarantee Edi Rama that nothing in the world will be able to save him from this terrible affair."
Earlier, Berisha asked several questions, demanding an account from SPAK why some members of the government cabinet were not arrested, who, according to him, had stolen 630 million euros from the state budget. But as he spoke to his supporters, their cheers were joined by those of some detainees from prison 313, which is located a few meters away from SPAK.
Asked by A2 if he hopes for the pre-trial detainees to vote on May 11, Berisha said: "They know who they will vote for. We do not interfere with anyone's vote, but we say that voting for your executioner is a problem."
The "Partizani" case has been in the preliminary examination phase for six months. The next hearing of the process, where it will be decided whether or not to send the former prime minister to trial, will be held on April 23. (A2 Televizion)
