Trial for the disappearance of Jan Pregna, Dritan Rexhepi speaks in the session:

Dritan Rexhepi, accused of ordering the kidnapping of Jan Prenga, has denied knowing one of his co-defendants, Gentian Funiq, writes A2 CNN.

During the hearing held this Thursday, Rexhepi stated: "I do not know him, because I have never seen Gentian Funiq in my life. I will prove this to the prosecutors, with evidence, in the following." During the hearing, the defendants' lawyers objected to the written evidence presented by SPAK.

Dritan Rexhepi, also known as Gramoz, was arrested in November 2023 in a villa in Istanbul, while using a forged Colombian passport. Since his arrest, Albania has been competing with three other countries to convince Turkish authorities to extradite him, including Italy, the United Kingdom and Ecuador, while the SPAK dossier of fabricated evidence apparently convinced Turkish authorities to hand Dritan Rexhepi over to face justice in his own country, writes A2 CNN.

He is accused of his role as the mastermind in the kidnapping and murder of Jan Prenga in January 2020, whose body has not yet been discovered. He gave the order for the kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga on January 17, 2020 in Kamza, after suspecting that in 2019, Jan Prenga's brother, Astrit Prenga, had stolen a container of cocaine owned by him and his associates in England.

But in the meantime, Dritan Rexhepi is burdened by a 2013 verdict of 25 years in prison for the 1999 murder of two people in Fushë Krujë, one of them police officer Durim Kasmi.

Dritan Rexhepi's history of problems in domestic and foreign justice begins in 2006 when he was arrested in Tirana with an unlicensed weapon, while escaping from the interrogation room in Durrës. Two years later, he was arrested in the Netherlands and extradited to Italy, sentenced to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking, 13 of which he has not served, after escaping in 2011. That same year, he was arrested in Spain and extradited to Belgium, also for drug trafficking, where he escaped again.

He became one of the barons of the cocaine cartels from Latin America. In 2014, Dritan Rexhepi was arrested in Ecuador with 240 kg of cocaine, but it is suspected that he was running a cocaine trafficking network to Europe from his cell. In 2020, Interpol published several photos of him from inside a prison in Ecuador. That same year, his network was destroyed by a Europol operation, which also involved our State Police.
