The Supreme Court has overturned Klemend Balili's appeal regarding the decision of the Special Appeal, which in 2019 finally sentenced him to 10 years in prison, writes A2 CNN. The judging trio Ilir Panda, Medi Bici and Sandër Simoni did not take into account the recourse of Balili, otherwise known as the "Eskobar of the Balkans".

The latter was finally sentenced on October 17, 2019 to 10 years in prison, for committing the criminal offenses "drug trafficking in collaboration", "participation in a structured criminal group", "refusal to declare, non-declaration, concealment or false declaration of the assets of civil servants" and "money laundering".

In the amalgamation of all the sentences, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but due to the shortened trial, Balili received a reduction of 1/3 of the sentence, ultimately sentencing him to 10 years. The decision was upheld by the Appeal.

The operation to strike the Balili group took place in May 2016, an operation that extended to Greece and Belgium. At that time, Balili escaped arrest, but surrendered after three years on the run. (A2 Televizion)
