Police have announced that they have arrested a person suspected of stealing oil from a ship seized at the Port of Durres after giving 10,000 euros to the police officer who was tasked with guarding and securing the ship "AYA ZANOYBYA".
"Following the investigations regarding the criminal proceedings of 08.02.2025, where police officer AM was arrested in flagrante delicto, the Police Supervision Agency (Durres - Kavaja Region) in cooperation with the Durres Police Department, based on the information received, has arrested citizen DM, who is wanted on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of "Theft committed in collaboration" and "Active Corruption of a Person Exercising Public Functions".
The arrest was made possible after on 27.01.2025 this citizen, in collaboration with citizen JK, gave a bribe of 10,000 euros to police officer AM, who was tasked with guarding and securing the ship "AYA ZANOYBYA" seized for oil smuggling, and stole a quantity of oil that was in the deposits of this ship, the police announced.
