Iranian hacker attack on Tirana Municipality, National Cyber ​​Security

Iranian hackers attacked the Tirana Municipality website today, disabling it. The hacker group "Homeland Justice" admitted to being behind the attack.

Through a post on the Telegram application, they link the cyberattack to the support that the Albanian government gives to the mujahedeen, sheltered since 2013 in its headquarters in Manzë, Durrës.

Meanwhile, a few minutes ago, the National Cyber ​​Security Authority also reacted, confirming the Iranian cyber attack, writes A2 CNN.

Also, in the AKSK announcement, while condemning the act of Iranian hackers, the incident has affected the normal functioning of several services and applications administered by the Municipality of Tirana.

AKSK also announces the establishment of a working group, together with the State Police and a group of cybersecurity experts, to prevent the spread of this attack to other systems and to restore the affected systems to a functional state.

The National Cyber ​​Security Authority (AKSK) informs the public that today a cyber incident has been detected that has affected some of the infrastructure and information systems of the Municipality of Tirana.

From the preliminary assessment, the incident has affected the normal functioning of several services and applications administered by this municipality.

Immediately after receiving the alert about the case, AKSK in cooperation with the State Police has taken all the steps foreseen by the operational procedures for responding to incidents, by setting up a dedicated working group, composed of cybersecurity experts. This group has immediately started working on the ground in close cooperation with the technical staff of the Municipality of Tirana to:

 • Conduct initial infrastructure compromise analysis and identify attack entry points;

 • Isolate and limit the spread of impact to other interconnected systems;

 • Take the first measures to restore the functioning of the affected systems;

 • Drafted the first recommendations for improving security and strengthening protective mechanisms in relevant infrastructures.

Currently, AKSK employees are on the ground and in full coordination with local authorities, the State Police, as well as the AKSH for malware analysis, as well as with responsible institutions, to ensure the fastest and safest possible return of systems to full functionality.

The National Cyber ​​Security Authority condemns any act that violates critical information infrastructures and remains committed to guaranteeing the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information technology systems in the Republic of Albania.
