Tirana Police have cracked down on a case of illegal possession of weapons, arresting a 31-year-old man. He was stopped at the Babrroi Bridge in a vehicle where he was traveling together with a 27-year-old man. During the search, a pistol firearm with live ammunition was found in the passenger door.
"The services of Police Commissariat No. 4, based on information obtained on the operational route about 2 citizens who were traveling with firearms in a vehicle, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Focus", as a result of which a case of illegal possession of weapons was cracked down on.
During the operation, on the Babrroi bridge, the Police services stopped the vehicle with the driver, citizen FB, and the passenger EM. During the search of the vehicle, in the passenger door, a firearm, a pistol with combat ammunition, was found, which was suspected to be in the possession of citizen EM. The firearm was seized as material evidence, along with the vehicle," the Police announced.
The police arrested the 31-year-old, for the criminal offense of “Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition”, and initiated criminal proceedings against the driver of the vehicle, citizen FB, 27, for the criminal offense of “Failure to report a crime”. The police seized the weapon, the vehicle and two mobile phones. The materials were passed on to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
