The former mayor of Kukes, Safet Gjici, has been released from prison, A2 CNN reports. The decision was made by the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction.
Due to his serious health condition, the court has ordered him to stay at home.
The appeal has overturned the decision of the Elbasan Court, which previously refused to release Gjici for health reasons. Meanwhile, another request by Gjici for early release is under consideration in the Elbasan Court, because he has served more than 3/4 of his sentence.
Safet Gjici has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for “active corruption.” He was sentenced after a video of him having sexual intercourse in his office at the Kukes Municipality was published. (A2 Televizion)
