A 38-year-old man has been arrested by the Police in Vlora, after allegedly repeatedly setting fire to a pile of urban waste, polluting the air and endangering surrounding homes as well as the protected area of ​​the Soda forest.

Through an announcement, the Police have appealed to citizens to show maximum caution against any action that could endanger the environment and the lives of citizens, writes A2 CNN.

Meanwhile, the procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora, for the criminal offense of "Air Pollution".

Vlora - A 38-year-old man has been arrested for repeatedly setting fires in a pile of urban waste, polluting the air and endangering surrounding homes and the protected area of ​​the Soda forest.

Following the investigative actions to identify and hold accountable the perpetrators of intentional or negligent arson, the structures of the Vlora Police Commissariat arrested the citizen in flagrante delicto:

•EI, 38 years old, resident of the “24 Maji” neighborhood, Vlora.

This citizen, on two different occasions, specifically on 30.06.2025, at around 20:50, and again on 01.07.2025, at around 12:00, has repeatedly set fire to a pile of urban waste, at the location called "Inert Waste Collection Point, Jalli, Nartë", causing air and environmental pollution, as well as endangering the surrounding residential area and the Soda Forest, a protected area, with the spread of flames.

The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Vlora, for the criminal offense of "Air Pollution", provided for by Article 201 of the Criminal Code.

The Vlora Local Police Directorate appeals for maximum caution in any action that may endanger the environment, the lives of citizens or public and private property, as they will face the law, and invites citizens to report any case of arson or illegality, at number 112, guaranteeing anonymity and immediate response.
