The sexual harassment of patients in the emergency rooms where he served has cost an Albanian doctor dearly in Italy.
The Monza court sentenced the 40-year-old surgeon with the initials RG to 20 months in prison. He was accused of sexual violence, after a 20-year-old patient denounced him for the indecent act he committed against her.
The incident happened in 2019, at the Zucchi clinic, where the girl who denounced the surgeon went to the emergency room to accompany her boyfriend, who had a sore throat.
According to Monza's prosecutor, Flaminio Forieri, who requested a 14-month prison sentence for the doctor, the girl, while waiting for her boyfriend to finish the serum, asked the Albanian surgeon where she could go to smoke.
He accompanied the 20-year-old to a room, where during the conversation he touched her navel.
The young woman had told the episode to her boyfriend and, before leaving the emergency room, they had gone to the doctor, insulting him and recording the conversation in which he denied the act he had committed.
During the court process, the doctor defended himself with the argument that he had caught the girl smoking inside the clinic, an action which is prohibited, and therefore only asked her to leave. (A2 Televizion)
