Former MP Ervin Salianji has filed a request for early release today.
The request was addressed to the Fier Court, the court that has jurisdiction over the prison in which the former MP is serving a 1-year prison sentence.
In the request, the former MP claims release because he has served 2/3 of his sentence, reports A2 CNN.
We recall that Salianji was convicted of defamation for the 'Babale' file, after presenting 'evidence' at the time incriminating the brother of former Interior Minister Fatmir Xhafa in international drug trafficking.
Salianji and the Democratic Party have described his sentence as politically motivated, to serve Prime Minister Edi Rama in the May 11 elections.
