The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has sent for trial on June 16, 2025 the criminal case involving four defendants, including judicial police officers and persons related to a 2020 criminal case in Dibër, writes A2 CNN.
The defendants are:
Shuip Cami, a former police officer, is accused of “passive corruption of justice officials” after receiving 3 thousand euros to influence the investigation against Adrian Shahi;
Flamur Kurti, previously convicted, is accused of “active corruption of justice officials” after giving the sum of 3 thousand euros to Cami to help Shahi;
Fluturim Bajrami, residing in Italy, is accused of “active corruption of public officials” after giving 2 thousand euros to a police specialist to mediate reconciliation between the perpetrator and the victim;
Aldo Puca, a police officer, is accused of “abuse of duty” for intentionally interrupting wiretaps and failing to report corrupt communications in a timely manner, favoring the suspected perpetrator of a serious crime.
This proceeding is related to an event dated January 9, 2020, when in the city of Peshkopia, citizen Adrian Shahi stabbed his fellow villager, Bukurosh Zagradi. Criminal proceeding no. 09/2020 was registered for this case for the offense of “intentional murder, remaining in the attempt”.
SPAK investigations revealed that police officials and relatives of Shahi had intervened to soften his legal positions through bribes and investigative manipulations. The interventions included interruptions of wiretaps, delays in reporting evidence, and failure to identify persons involved in corruption.
The file has been sent for trial, and it is expected that the court process will fully uncover the scheme of corrupt influence in the investigative bodies of Dibra. (A2 Televizion)
