A young man's attempt to cross the border with over 200 thousand euros on him has been stopped by police.
Agents at the port of Durres have arrested a 36-year-old man, a resident of Italy, who attempted to take money out of Albania without declaring it.
"As a result of detailed controls and verifications at the entry/exit of Albania, with the objective of preventing and combating crimes at the border, the Border Police services of the port of Durrës, in cooperation with the customs authorities, finalized the operation "Asset". During the operation, the Albanian citizen, MD, 36 years old, resident in Italy, was arrested in flagrante delicto, because 223,200 euros were found in his backpack, which he was attempting to take out of Albania, without declaring them to the PKK", the police announced.
The procedural materials were passed to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office, where investigations are continuing to determine the source of this money. (A2 Televizion)
