Pogradec Police have clarified the circumstances and perpetrators of the serious incident that occurred yesterday in Pogradec, where a 31-year-old man stabbed a 52-year-old woman to death in her apartment, and then set the apartment on fire.
Initially, the incident was reported as accidental after it was suspected that the 52-year-old woman had died from asphyxiation during the burning of her apartment.
The Police Services, during the investigative actions and the external examination of the dead body, have raised doubts that the cause of the 52-year-old woman's death was not asphyxiation, because they found suspected injuries caused by a knife on her body.
Following the in-depth investigative actions, carried out under the direction of the Korça Prosecutor's Office, based on the video footage, it was possible to identify the suspected perpetrator of the incident, citizen IS, 31 years old, resident of Pogradec, who is suspected of having had an intimate relationship with the 52-year-old woman for 3 years.
Citizen IS is suspected of stabbing citizen KT, 52, to death, setting fire to her apartment and leaving the apartment at around 05:00.
At the end of the actions, citizen IS, 31 years old, resident of Pogradec, was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Murder due to family relations".
