The manuscripts of some of Ismail Kadare's best novels, but also the letters and awards with which the Albanian writer has been honored all over the world, are exhibited in his home museum. The January of his birthday in Tirana is manifested in this way, through his works.
The Akademie der Künste or "Academy of the Arts" in Berlin is one of the oldest cultural institutions in Europe and brings together an international community of artists. We view with skepticism the context in which the "European Capitals of Culture", Athens, Florence, Amsterdam and Berlin (1988) were held. We judge that this series of manifestations have implemented an arrogance of Western European states. Therefore, we have decided that other meetings will be held in member countries of the Warsaw Pact, or even countries that are not part of it. In a historical moment in which a decrease in military confrontations between the two blocs is being observed, it is very important to strengthen the ties between the two political systems of Europe. This is also a duty of the artists of these countries, and not only of politicians or civil society actors, to discuss among themselves how this can be achieved. The concept of Europe to which we refer should not be allowed to remain an abstract concept".
This is what the Nobelist Gunter Grass wrote to Ismail Kadare, who at that time was in charge of the Academy of Arts in Berlin.
This is just one of the correspondence or manuscripts that you find in an open exhibition at the house museum of the great writer Ismail Kadare.
January, which also marks the birthday of the great writer Kadare, brought together friends and colleagues in his studio home, who for a birthday party did not arrive empty-handed, but enriched the writer's studio home even more.
The exhibition will also be a manifestation this first January without Ismail Kadare, and the doors of his studio house will be open to display letters and novel manuscripts until February 2. (A2 Televizion)
