One day before the end of the 26th edition, the 2023 Book Fair awards were distributed. The best writer of 2023 was awarded to Mrs. Mira Meksi, for the novel "Parisi vret", with the motivation: For interweaving erudition with hedonism, for diving into the depths of history and psychology; for fusing facts with fiction; for a different perspective on some taboos with roots in the time of the dictatorship, which still accompany us; for the elegant handling of the language.
The best translator award of 2023 is given to Ms. Ana Kove, for the novel "Tin Drum", by Gunter Grass, with the motivation: For the worthy confrontation with the complex book of a challenging author; for conveying in Albanian his bold fantasy, satirical style and symbolism... For qualitatively enriching the library of Albanian with a milestone of world literature.
The prize for the best research work for 2023 is given to Mr. Thomas Frashëri, for the work entitled "The outstanding, unknown strawberry" with the motivation: For a complete drawing, especially complete with unknown facts, of an Albanian tree with strong roots, solid trunk and dense crown such as brambles. For interweaving scientific rigor with engaging narrative, creating a harmonious portrayal within the broad mosaic of historical and geographical context.
The award for the best children's book of 2023 is given to Ms. Rudina Çupi, for the book "Grandmother with the heart of a squirrel", with the motivation: For the knowledge of the children's world, for the presence of the contemporary element, for the interweaving of literature with didactics.
The prize of the Embassy of France in Tirana for the best translation from the French language is given to Mrs. Diana Çuli for the translation of Simone de Beauvoir's work "The Indivisibles", with the motivation: Through the translation choices, the power of the word and the fluent syntax, it respects the authentic style of Simone de Beauvoir bringing an atmosphere both intimate and exciting.
