With the vote counting process nearing its end, with attention now focused on the Diaspora envelopes, the leader of the "Albania Becomes" movement, Adriatik Lapaj, through a Facebook post, expressed his gratitude to the citizens who trusted him on May 11.
Lapaj states that his political force, although it has only existed as such for 8 months, managed to secure enough votes to rank as the third political force.
" The Albania Becomes Movement turned into a political party on September 30, 2024. For 8 months, despite all the difficulties that you know, we managed to rank as the 3rd political force in the country (against those who threaten, buy and steal votes). Thank you to everyone who trusted us with their vote! ", he writes.
Lapaj immediately focuses on the electoral law, which according to him harms small parties and proves this with the difference in numbers.
Referring to the number of votes needed by the Socialist Party, the winner of the elections, and the "Albania Becomes" movement, to secure a mandate as a deputy, Lapaj calls for changing the electoral system and aligning it with the system applied in Kosovo.
" The electoral system proved to be unfair to everyone. The SP won 1 mandate with nearly 10,000 votes, while our coalition won nearly 63,000 (so far). The SP received votes for 73 mandates, but the unfair electoral law gave it 83. Our coalition should have had at least 6 mandates. The electoral law must be changed. Look at the Kosovo model, national proportional with open lists ," Lapaj underlines.
Finally, he states that the “Albania Becomes” Movement is open to anyone who believes in values, so he invites those people to join. “ There is no turning back! ”, emphasizes Lapaj. (A2 Televizion)
