Strengthening the common market in three main sectors - finance, energy and telecommunications - are necessary steps. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron from Tirana during his speech at the International Investment Initiative (III) Forum. According to him, these sectors are essential to help Europe improve its investment capacities and achieve sustainable economic development.
" My idea for Europe is that we should take advantage of the opportunity to have a clear competitive strategy by putting investments as a top priority and making them stronger, this is essential. There are wonderful reports that make it clear what we need to do, but this competitiveness must be based on simplicity. Together with Von der Leyen, Merz, we have issued a statement that we are committed to simplifying regulations to synchronize, to say that they are off the table. The other part is deepening the common market. Our strong point is that there are of course millions and millions of participants and it is not treated like that by entrepreneurs, the common market is benefiting from the taxes that we impose on ourselves. We need to treat this common market in three critical sectors, telecommunications, energy and finance. They are not part of the common market, but we need to build a common market for these sectors because it is important to have more capacity to invest. We believe that in addition to the fact that we use the common market, we need to synchronize the regulation for banks and insurance and internationalize and savings, so that they go to the right place and the right sector. Europe must invest, in defense, green technology and AI. These three areas will require much more public and private investment, we need joint financing. When I said we must become a power, we are at the moment of truth.
According to Macron, what Europe needs to do is avoid internal war.
"Referring to what Edi said about Trump's story, Europe can achieve independence if we choose our partnerships and see our dependencies. With the crisis in Ukraine, the costs were exposed.
