The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, from Elbasan, declared that the Albanian economy and production will be at the epicenter of the party's program.
"I believe that our choice for the economy to be the epicenter of the program and in this context, production in Albania to be our pride, is right. It is exhausting, Albania is not producing. If you notice, from morning to night we talk about tourism. Very good, it is a great potential, but the income from tourism is ridiculous for the entire population. Statistics show that last year with 11.6 million tourists, there were a total of 7.8 million nights of sleep. Again, tourists are entitled to 0.7 nights of sleep, no night of sleep per tourist. This means that in general sales, they had 140 million euros a year ago, this year they could have 150 million euros. 7-8 million euros are taken as their VAT. So, citizens who do not have a hotel or apartments to rent and who are 90 percent of Albanians, they earn a total of 4-5 euros per tourist. Meanwhile, they give 230 euros from their taxes to tourism. Because "This one spends 430 million euros on the infrastructure of strategic investor complexes," Berisha said, A2 writes.
"This is colonial style. This is the most typical colonial exploitation. This is coming to an end. We will formalize tourism. We have invested and will invest again in tourism. But production is our absolute priority. Employment has been falling for six semesters in a row. The decline in production is a halt to development. Therefore, we will focus with all our strength on promoting production in Albania. We will absolutely achieve this with certainty and speed. We will make Albania the most attractive country for foreign investments. We will attract the largest high-tech companies. Where do I base this? We have increased exports by 320 percent from 2006 to 2013. Export is production. Therefore, we focus on this program, because this program for Greater Albania is absolutely in our hands and this is being fully realized," added the leader of the Democratic Party. (A2 Televizion)
