From one of Tirana's oldest neighborhoods, that of "Tregu Elektrik", the leader of the "Right for Development" coalition, Dashamir Shehi, expressed his belief that 30% of Albanians will vote differently in the May 11 elections, breaking away from traditional parties.
"We believe that 20-30% of Albanians will vote differently this time and this is a great chance for Albania, for those younger than me," said Shehi.
He accused the Socialist and Democratic Parties of being together and working and making laws for common interests, with the aim of maintaining the status quo in politics.
"Symmetrically, they support each other, and they don't want new players on the field. Since this law, this kind of agreement between the two parties, citizens must understand that they are together. Those who want change have opponents, this is the reality. Not everyone may understand it today, out of inertia they will continue to vote, but the European passport is an empty mirage with no value. I don't see anything else. On the other hand, I see grand promises, but I don't know how these things can be done," declared Shehi.
Asked about the number of MPs they claim to win in these elections, Shehi said: " I don't know. We could win 1, but we could also win 5. But without mandates we won't even get out, this is the reality ."
Regarding the campaign that "Right for Development" is conducting by going door to door to citizens and without media pomp, Shehi underlined that this is the most appropriate way to understand the daily problems of Albanians.
" We believe that what we are doing is for the sake of the citizen's real journey to where he is. This big noise is the decor of politics, we want to go to the citizen with our commitment and our face. We have come out with a clearer idea, because we know this city well, but we want to make it clear to the citizens that if these people continue to govern, our Tirana will become even more difficult to live in. The city has become expensive, to drive away the poor and keep the rich. Citizens of Tirana, think carefully before you go to vote. The time has come for change and change for us starts from 9. We are not going to make mistakes, but we will take a small step, but forward, not backward. We invite citizens to vote for number 9. We are "Right for Development". We are not going to perform miracles, but we will keep those 5 promises, because we have been telling them for years that we will keep them. "We don't want to make this a false campaign ," Shehi underlined. (A2 Televizion)
