MP Monika Kryemadhi commented on 'Debate' with journalist Alba Alishani on A2 CNN about her statement from a few days ago, where she said that she would give her life for Ilir Meta, not just her vote.
Kryemadhi said in the statement that during that speech she had said that she would seek votes for the father of her children, for whom she would give her life (i.e. for the children).
Kryemadhi added that she was once ready to give her life for Ilir Meta, but according to her, at the age of 50, there can be no story like Romeo and Juliet.
She also spoke about diaspora votes, about which she said that despite methods to make them as secure as possible, this vote is still vulnerable.
"I think that unlike other elections where vote buying has been massive in the past elections in Albania, this time I think that vote buying can be played openly in the diaspora. Despite the fact that technically the process of receiving the ballot, voting, closing it in envelope A and B is very correct, how protected is the diaspora vote that is not family and is not secret... And on the other hand in the conditions in which they are today, where the majority of voters are in Greece and Italy, where the salaries of the majority of immigrants in these 2 countries are very low and taking into account the economic turnover of certain interest groups, in terms of vote buying. However, it is not as widespread as it was before in Albania.
"I have said that I will seek the vote for the father of my children for whom I give my life. A few years ago I gave my life for Ilir Meta, but the priorities of a 50-year-old woman are completely different compared to a young girl, because in all the stories of Romeo and Juliet we have seen them with 18-year-olds and 20-year-olds. There is no 50-year-old Romeo and Juliet," said Kryemadhi. (A2 Televizion)
