Three days before the May 11 elections, the Democratic Party of Vlora branch filed a criminal complaint against the Municipality of Vlora and its mayor, Ermal Dredha, for electoral crimes and abuse of office.
The report has been submitted to the Vlora General Jurisdiction Prosecutor's Office. According to the Democrats from Dredha, it has been stated that the Sherishta landfill has been put into operation, but this is an unfulfilled promise, "even though the head of the Vlora Municipality has declared several times the opening and full functioning of this landfill."
"This is an electoral maneuver, because as we have seen, urban waste is deposited there for "show and tell" and its selection and burial are not processed, as the full cycle of urban waste processing should be. This situation has caused an urban catastrophe in the city of Vlora, where pollution is present in every part of the city. The Vlora landfill is an environmental disaster, which is overflowing beyond its holding capacity day by day," the Vlora PD statement says.
The Democratic Party demands a full investigation and accountability for this violation that damages not only the environment, but according to them, also the integrity of the electoral process. (A2 Televizion)
