The Democratic Party welcomed the US State Department's stance on what it considers the removal of the "Nong Grata" designation against its leader, Sali Berisha.
"The Democratic Party appreciates and welcomes the position of the State Department, made public by the American media, as a right and return to legality, taken hostage by the Biden administration with the lobbying of George Soros and Edi Rama," the Democratic Party's response states.
"The right has been delayed, but it has been put in place, thanks to the administration of President Trump, whose victory has served the free world, with the strong and fair message, which was also repeated in the speech of Vice President Vance in Munich. The Democratic Party, on behalf of its chairman, Sali Berisha, the 26 coalition parties, and the Democrats, who bore the burden of resistance, thanks the State Department for its fair and principled stance! It is not Sali Berisha's freedom to travel that has been hindered these years, but it is the freedom of the Albanian people to elect their leaders, and to have an opposition that is not appointed by the government. America is no stranger to this scenario, as the last four years have proven in the witch hunt against President Trump. Secretary of State, Republican James Baker, said it, in "Skanderbeg" Square, 34 years ago: "freedom works". It worked today too."
What happened?
A day ago, American journalist Marc Caputo, who works for the “Axios” agency, asked the US State Department whether the leader of the opposition in Albania, Sali Berisha, could visit the United States. In a comment on the “X” network, he says: “I asked the State Department about Berisha’s visa status and they told me that he can come to the US” – writes the journalist who also publishes the State Department’s response.
"We regularly grant exemptions to facilitate travel for certain individuals to the United States, consistent with our international obligations and national interests. As such, we will not allow our foreign policy interests or relations with Albania to be held hostage by politicized Biden-era decisions," the US State Department's response to the journalist said.
Former Prime Minister Berisha and his family members were declared "Non Grata" by the US Department of State on May 19, 2021. The news was announced by then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Rama's reaction
On Thursday, Prime Minister Edi Rama also reacted to this news, writes A2 CNN. Through a post on Facebook, the socialist leader states that this is another mockery of Berisha and a brainwashing. Ironically, Rama emphasizes that "the swamp sees grand dreams with milk and silk roads."
"I said that they really removed the stigma to save Albania from an unprecedented shame, but aha, nothing, it was another one of those mockeries of the Owl with the Marsh's kennel, where the belief that if the Owl said so, even a donkey flies remains unshakable. He has done such exemplary disservice to the poor in all these years, that even when the exhausted Owl wanders the streets, the Marsh sees grand dreams of milk and silk roads, where the ocean turns to yogurt and the Owl's tramp hat multiplies into millions of pots of gold with the inscription USA," Rama writes.
