Former candidate of the 'Right for Development' coalition, Rei Shehu, has stated that the race in the May 11 elections was unequal.
Shehu made the comments on the 'Debat' show with journalist Alba Alishani on A2 CNN, where he said that one of the duties of the Albanian Parliament is to depoliticize the state administration.
He also said that he did not think that the change in the result, or the distortion of the vote, had occurred on election day, implying that everything was prepared in advance by the ruling party.
"The result was clear. I do not believe that the change in the result occurred on election day. I believe that people voted their preferences. Was it done by pressure or by the administration as you mentioned before, no, I know of many cases where it is not that they intervened. We are all employed in the administration, no one has violated our families.
We as an Albanian society have produced a phenomenon, anyone who deals with politics gets a job in the administration. If citizens had the courage to oppose this, they would have opposed it. The fact that they have chosen this methodology shows that it is efficient. We are talking as if we were a Western democratic society.
"We are totally pragmatic. People look at their country, they look at their personal comfort. Parliament should depoliticize the state administration. I see that this is not going to happen. The competition is unequal," Shehu said, among other things. (A2 Televizion)
