Less than an hour after announcing the cancellation of all meetings with structures in Shkodra and urgently leaving for Tirana, Prime Minister Edi Rama has arrived at the Prime Minister's Office.
Rama had planned to inspect the Shiroka-Zogaj road axis, have lunch with SP officials and mayors, and meet with structures in the northern region of the country, but canceled them just minutes after BKH agents arrested Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj in his office.
A2 CNN journalist Fjorela Beleshi reports that she has learned from sources that silence has plagued the Socialist Party, while the head of government has not communicated with anyone on the way from Shkodra to the capital.
Meanwhile, at 16:00, a meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group will be held at the Presidency of the Assembly. This meeting is weekly and was previously scheduled, but today will have a special importance and a possible addressing of the situation created after Veliaj's arrest by Prime Minister Rama is expected, A2 CNN reports.
Veliaj's arrest occurred just three months before the elections, with the mayor of the capital also being one of the three political leaders of the Tirana district.
Veliaj did not have a designated area as he would be the coordinator of the entire district. During all this time, he has not held meetings with either the Diaspora or the SP structures in Tirana, but last week he appeared alongside Prime Minister Rama during an inspection of the works in the Student City dormitories.
