"Numerous indications of patronage in the diaspora", DP

After the clashes between Taulant Balla and Flamur Noka, and the call of the Secretary General of the DP to his commissioners not to count the votes coming from Greece, the CEC has made the decision to continue counting the ballots, leaving aside the envelopes from Greece.

The legal representative of the Democratic Party, Franci Nuri, in a statement to A2 CNN explained why the opposition has requested that the votes from Greece not be counted.

"The momentary impasse has passed, the situation is calm and normal counting is continuing in the CEAZs of the diaspora. We as an alliance have requested that the votes from the Greek state be separated, for the moment they be set aside and that the other ballots from the diaspora be continued. The reason is that we have arguments on the credibility of the process in Greece. There were numerous indications of patronage in the diaspora, of violations of the rules for distributing ballots in the diaspora. Envelopes were left on the streets, at betting points... Added to this, there were also problems with the figures coming from Greece, in the last 10 days there was an influx almost exclusively from Greece", said Nuri.

"Based on all these elements, we have requested that they be separated until the CEC provides us with proof that each vote was personally delivered to the voter, as required by the regulations," Nuri added.

"19,000 envelopes arrived at the CEC in 3 days, when previously a total of 17,000 had arrived. This sign suggests that something has happened. It is important not to mix up the envelopes at this stage. We are awaiting the CEC's response regarding the request for documentation from DHL, which proves that the envelopes were delivered in the correct manner," the legal representative of the Democratic Party further stated.
