Socialist MP Baftjar Zeqaj appeared this Monday at SPAK premises.
The name of Zeqaj was mentioned months ago in the file of the former/deputy prime minister Arben Ahmetaj, for the firms that he has placed in the tendering procedure of the incinerator of Fier, in 2011 when he was the mayor of the Municipality of Fier.
It is unclear why Zeqaj went to the Special Prosecutor's Office today, but it is worth noting that in July he clarified his position regarding the case while speaking to the media from the Assembly. Zecaj denied any connection with the incinerator, during the time when he ran the municipality.
" I have not signed tenders for the incinerator. There is not a single moment that says that I met with Ahmetaj, nor did I drink coffee. I have not communicated with Mr. Ahmetaj, for me he is just a party friend. I don't remember meeting. A message was found on Ahmetaj's phone that was sent to me "meet Mertirin" for a meeting. I am concerned that my name is being misused. Remember that his phone is in the hands of SPAK. No one asked me about the incinerator ", said Zeqaj at the time.
Regarding a message that Ahmetaj sent to him on the phone, asking him to meet with Mirel Mërtir, Zeqaj said 4 months ago: " I don't remember the meeting and the topic. I don't remember I would say. I remember, this meeting could be in 1 thousand meetings. I didn't even recognize his face, because I remember meeting him ".
After leaving SPAK, Zeqaj responded to the interest of journalists with the words: " I have no news ". (A2 Televizion)
