The Alliance of Macedonians for European Integration Party is demanding from the government that, just like in Montenegro, green card fees be applied to North Macedonia and Greece. Vasil Sterjovksi, chairman of the Alliance of Macedonians for European Integration Party, said that this decision would bring direct benefits to Albanian citizens, especially to residents of the Korça District, who have close ties to Macedonia and Greece for family, economic and cultural reasons.
“This decision will bring direct benefits to Albanian citizens, especially to residents of the Korça Region, who have close ties to Macedonia and Greece for family, economic and cultural reasons. The reduction of this fee will create greater opportunities for free movement, will facilitate the daily lives of thousands of citizens and will help deepen regional cooperation between Albania, Macedonia and Greece. The Alliance of Macedonians for European Integration (AMIE) party will closely follow this process and will continue to support any initiative aimed at improving living conditions and facilitating the free movement of Albanian citizens. We call on the responsible institutions to act swiftly to guarantee equal treatment for our citizens traveling to Macedonia and Greece, reducing a huge economic burden on citizens and businesses operating in the region,” he said.
The decision of the Albanian Insurance Bureau, which entered into force on February 1, 2025, allows Albanian citizens to move to Montenegro with the “Green Card” insurance policy with a reduced premium of only 50 euros per year, instead of the 400 euros that applied previously. With this decision, which exclusively covers the territory of Montenegro, Albanian citizens can obtain the “Green Card” insurance policy with a 12-month validity from the date of issue.
