Public consultation in governance, Balla talks about increasing transparency,

The public consultation in the central government was the next act of the clash between the government and the opposition, in an activity organized by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation.

The Minister of State Taulant Balla spoke about increasing transparency, while the deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, called the consultative process false.

"We are at a stage where the public consultation cannot be done face-to-face, but we must make it complete and fundamental", said Balla.

"By entering here, I managed to capture the essence of the government for public consultations. Ask for 100 years and I will do as I know," said Tabaku.

Balla told about a new project of the Albanian government, to increase transparency and accountability, but Tabaku saw it with suspicion, taking the example of not providing information about the ongoing negotiations with the European Union.

"We will have a public page, where transparency will be made for every penny spent by the government", declared Balla.

"The Albanian government has not published its negotiating positions. We have a lack of transparency in the integration process itself, so what do we expect this consultation process to happen not only in the law-making process but beyond it", continued Tabaku.

These comments were made during the conference where the monitoring report "Public Consultation in the Central Government 2022-2023", carried out by the Institute for Democracy and Mediation, was published. (A2 Televizion)
