Sali Berisha calls all the movements within the Tirana municipality a movie-like scenario, where several dismissals and reappointments have taken place in the past two days, to which the imprisoned mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has publicly reacted from his cell.
"A scenario with surprises, with wonders, worthy of every episode of Narcos. So in the last episode, what happens? It turns out that Erion Veliaj has transformed the cell into the municipality's office. Erion Veliaj signs and seals there as if he were in the municipality's office."
In a press conference, Berisha considered the leadership of the municipality by Anuela Ristani as illegal, since according to him it is the municipal council that decides the head of the institution in the absence of the mayor. The opposition leader requested an investigation by the Ombudsman.
"They put a bullet in an envelope in front of him, or they drugged him, or what they did to him, none of this I know. But these questions are being raised everywhere. So an investigation by the Ombudsman is necessary."
Edi Rama also had a response, whose main battleground in the electoral campaign is the promise of Albania's integration into the European Union.
"The polar star of the DP program will be the national interest and it lies in Albania's integration into the EU. With Edi Rama, we are heading towards the past and not into the EU."
He sees the new relationship expressed through videos between Lulzim Basha and Edi Rama as a misuse that the Prime Minister is making of the former chief democrat, to distract public opinion from the problems of the majority. (A2 Televizion)
