The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has clarified in a press conference that the $6 million lobbying contract in America is not related to the parliamentary elections. Berisha said that the agreement is legal and one of its goals is to inform the United States about the reality in Albania.

Sali Berisha sought to reiterate the resolution of the European People's Parties on their stance on the elections in Albania, but the media interest was elsewhere. Questions about the lobbying contract in the US had been waiting for answers for days, writes A2.

The chief democrat was careful to emphasize that the Democratic Party is simply the beneficiary of a donation, citing the law on political parties: "The article authorizes political parties to receive assistance from foundations."

Berisha linked the importance of this cooperation to the fate of Albania-US relations, and indicating where its focus will be: "We believe that Edi Rama's cooperation with gangs is a danger not only for Albania and the region, but also for the US. We also believe that the McGonigal case must be closed."

Among the unanswered questions was whether this lobbying contract was also paying Chris LaCivita?

"LaCivita has been contracted as an electoral advisor to the DP," Berisha said.

During the press conference, Berisha stated that this contract was not kept secret, but that the Democrats should focus on the campaign.    (A2 Televizion)
