The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has called on children and young people to boycott classes and start protests to oppose the closure of Tik Tok by the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Berisha made the comments through a statement to the media, where, among other things, he called on them to participate in the March 15 protest to shut down Tik Tok, writes A2 CNN.
He also guaranteed the students that no school or teacher would dare take action against them, because otherwise, according to him, they would face the strictest legal consequences.
Excerpt from Berisha's speech:
First of all, the protest of pupils, students and young people in front of the Prime Minister's Office on the 15th will be the most beautiful, most magnificent protest that Albania has seen to date.
Protest against censorship, a protest that every child of any age who has a smartphone faces, comes out, becomes a fighter against the dictatorship in defense of TikTok and against censorship.
I tell these young people that where censorship begins, dictatorship begins.
Therefore, and despite your young age, you, with your act, participating in the protest, become fighters against the narco-dictatorship of Edi Rama, who has a terrible legacy.
His father signed the hanging of Havzi Nela on August 10, 1988 solely for the verses he wrote against Edi Rama's father and his friends.
Edi Rama reverts to his paternal instincts because you criticized him or mocked him for his arrogance and now he turns around and shuts you down.
But I have another call because I see that the temperature of this revolt among young people is rising rapidly.
I have another call, to start a boycott of classes.
Yes, it's worth it.
Dear children, dear young men and women, whoever imposes censorship on you is trampling on your future.
The problem here is that a man without any tag, without any law, wants to hang TikTok on 'Skënderbej' Square, why are you criticizing him, then you have the right to start strikes and your strike is to boycott classes.
From Monday, for example, first thing in the morning, it would be great to miss you as much as possible.
I urge parents not to send their children to school on Monday, at least for the first hour, as an act of your children's fight for freedom of expression and against censorship.
Then I'll leave it up to you to take it to Tuesday, but I wanted you to start it on Monday with a first-hour boycott.
And I guarantee that no school or teacher will dare take action against you, or they will face the strictest legal consequences.
The right to strike is a constitutional right. (A2 Televizion)
