The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and Democratic MP Agron Gjekmarkaj has reacted on social networks to the opposition protest, where at the end of it he ended up in the hospital, according to him, due to police violence.
Gjekmarkaj says that he did not feel bad by chance, but was brutally violated by some police officers, although he was introduced to him.
Gjekmarkaj's full reaction:
I would not have reacted to what happened to me yesterday at the protest, if the state police did not insult me with their public and disinforming statement!
I do not like or seek victimization! In fact, I have never in my life sought or encouraged physical encounters! I have never attacked anyone! Yesterday I just defended myself. Found in front of a small car, together with my companion, a Guardsman, who was also mistreated, although he showed them his identification document, I was surrounded by a large group of policemen! I told you don't touch me, I'm Agron Gjekmarkaj, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic, MP, lecturer at the University, gently and almost humorously, I'm not known for physical strength, I don't exercise, so be careful! They pushed me brutally, with a lot of force, they even broke the mirror of the car, almost lifting me into the air! I was dragged by the attendant with great effort and a guy from Lezha through the policemen, as I felt my breathing slowing down! As soon as I got out of the crowd of policemen, pulling others, I passed out! I didn't feel bad because of health problems, but because of the actions of the police! I didn't leave the protest because I wanted to leave, but they forced me. I didn't leave to go to coffee or home, but to the hospital!
I remember the ferocity in the sight of two or three police officers, their zeal as they used to be when opposition deputies were arrested in 1946. It seemed unfair to them that someone dares to protest against their power, because they see the power as their thing, why not as an instrument of violence! Anyway, they couldn't push an MP like that without a political order!
I take advantage of this sad occasion to thank all those who stood by me, the protesters, the democrats and citizens of Lezha, the leaders and MPs of the DP, the doctors of the military hospital and those of QSUT for the examinations and service, I thank the centers, friends and known by the country and the world for the flood of messages that I have received from them, still unable to respond individually!
I express deep regret for all the injured and detained, who strive for a better Albania and who did not receive the attention that I received! We are not afraid!
Today we are on Christmas Eve! May they be white for you and all Albanians! Others will be better! (A2 Televizion)
