With the slogan "We were born in democracy, we live in dictatorship", the youth of the Democratic Party commemorated December 8, 1990 with a protest.
In front of the statue of Azem Hajdar, the leader of the December protests that brought the fall of the dictatorship, the young democrats once again called for the awakening of the fighting spirit of the students to overthrow the government of Edi Rama, writes A2.
Besart Xhaferri, Head of the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party, said: "It is time to stand up in the name of Albania, as our parents did in 1990. Today, pluralism is in danger, so we must be at the forefront of the resistance."
Glauk Olldashi, from the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party, emphasized: "I hope that the other 155 days that separate us from the victory of May 11 will be like this day."
Among the young democrats was Sali Berisha, who, while recalling the event of 34 years ago, when the students won over the dictatorship, asserted that the country is experiencing a dictatorship again: "All the powers are in the hands of one man. A dictatorship, which has turned the elections into a facade. A dictatorship, which has returned prisons and political arrests to Albania".
According to the leader of the Democrats, the overthrow of the dictatorship can only be done by young people, whom he invited to become part of the civil disobedience that the opposition has started for months: "This dictatorship, just like the communist dictatorship, will be overthrown because there is no future, but it will only be brought down by you. This is delivered at the moment when you, when the students, when the young people decide to face him tooth for tooth".
The time is for an attack, Berisha continued, and promised the young people that when the Democratic Party comes to power, they will be at the epicenter of its program: "I guarantee every young man and woman that the DP government in its program in the epicenter will be the young Albanians, education, employment, their role".
And as Berisha requested, after the words the actions had their turn. The young democrats marched from the Student City to the Prime Minister's Office, commemorating the journey of the students 34 years ago.
The arrival at the Prime Minister had another surprise in store, where three mannequins were burned with the photos of Edi Rama, Ogerta Manastirli and Erion Veliaj placed on their faces. (A2 Televizion)
