Prime Minister Edi Rama together with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Belinda Balluku conducted a visit to the new site of the Pole of Information Technology and Cyber Security.
Spread over an area of more than 9,000 square meters, the second largest project in the field of cyber defense after the Security and Defense Innovation Center, is a large complex of government buildings that will house several agencies operating in the field of information and cyber security.
Part of the complex that is being built will also be the Cyber Academy, which comes as a need for capacity building in the field of cyber security.
"It is expected that the location of the Cyber Academy, which we have already talked about for a long time, will be located here, since Albania has taken important steps starting from the summer of 2022 in cyber security, increasing us by 23 places in the global index of cyber protection or giving us the first prize at the global meeting of cyber defense institutions. Therefore, it should be taken into account that the need we have for capacity building in the field of cyber security has forced us to set up this academy which will be active, not only for those who will work in ACESK but also those who will work in ASIG or even those who work in financial intelligence. The lobby is planned to be a modular lobby, which will change according to the events that will be held there and will be usable by the three institutions that are planned to stay inside this building." - said Deputy Prime Minister Balluku.
For his part, Prime Minister Rama said that this building is very important for the activity that is carried out inside it and encouraged the completion of the works even earlier than the anticipated deadline.
"We have the company as a 'tested watermelon' and I am very confident that it will be done not only with high quality work, but also on time. The term of completion is for 18 months, but maybe from the experience with you, it can be closed even faster. This building is very important for us, because it is actually a building with high security standards, for the very activity that is carried out inside it, whether by the cyber protection agency that, as the Deputy Prime Minister said, has taken on special importance, but and has made considerable progress and has recently been equipped with a state-of-the-art technology that really puts us in the high ranking places in Europe for protection, whether for the classic that deals with all the geospatial data of country, and either for the Artificial Intelligence Agency, which has a very sensitive job due to the sensitivity of data related to financial transactions and which is a key agency, either in terms of Albania's exit from the gray list, or in terms of the whole of trying to fight evasion, but primarily with the money that comes from criminal activities. So, it is actually a very important building and has a very favorable position, I believe, that it is detached, but also close to the center in terms of traffic, but also as the first phase of what is coming from the back to build further new standards for the entire academy, police and security academy." - said the Prime Minister.
This major project is being developed along the Ring of Tirana, in the roundabout that connects the area of Sauk and the Artificial Lake. (A2 Televizion)
