Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the ambassador of the European Union in Albania, Luigi Soreca, presented, this Thursday, the findings of the progress report of the European Commission for Albania.

Balluku and Soreca gave a different reading to Brussels' concern about the denial of the opposition's rights, which has also led to a tense climate in the Assembly.

"It is an issue that has received the answer in the Parliament. Every opportunity will be used, every good momentum for Albania to always remember that requests made to cover the problems of the opposition are made to cover the problems of the leaders of the opposition."

BELINDA BALLUKU – DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER

"We very much hope that the parliament can quickly return to normal functioning and we hope that all parties will work for this. If you've read our report, the report identifies these as the way forward."

Journalists also asked them about the agreement signed by Prime Ministers Rama and Meloni for the establishment of immigrant camps in Albania. Balluku stated that the text is not final and will follow the parliamentary path, while for Soreca the signatures currently have political and not legal value.

"The Prime Minister has made clear the reason for this agreement and we believe that no one should be worried, neither for the real reason that the Prime Minister has said nor for the legal framework, as it respects international law and has detailed obligations of the parties . How the property will work, who will manage it and how long it will last".

BELINDA BALLUKU – DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER

"At the moment it is premature to give an assessment for documents that have more political and not legal value. In any case, the EU and its member states can cooperate with other countries while respecting EU legislation."
