The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has stated that if the DP comes to power after May 11, it will establish a board that will compensate exporters for the depreciation of the euro.
Berisha made the comments during the presentation of the Alliance for Greater Albania program, where he said that the euro's 35% decline is a catastrophe, writes A2 CNN.
Berisha also said that in the DP program, production is national pride, while adding that a living wage will be established for all pensioners.
Excerpt from Berisha's speech:
I respectfully bow before the work you do, working people, and express my greatest appreciation for you, but also for the entrepreneurs who, in extremely difficult conditions, have managed to keep their businesses alive.
The 35% drop in the euro alone is a disaster for the exporter.
What do we intend?
After May 12, we will create a board that will compensate exporters, penny for penny, for the devaluation of the euro. The euro was devalued by the government that tolerated gangs and traffickers bringing in their money in containers and other ways, and then hundreds and thousands of jobs, hundreds of export companies went bankrupt because the euro fell by 35%.
Edi Rama showed contempt for your industry. Fasoni said it is a third world industry. Not for us it is national pride.
We consider production to be our national pride, and in our program, if you have heard it, production, production is our national pride.
We will do everything to produce everywhere, to attract the largest industries to produce, because production is employment, production is wages and welfare.
So I greet you very much. May 11th is the day when we vote first and foremost for ourselves, for our family.
We will establish a living wage for every pensioner.
There will be no pension below 200 euros in Albania. We will return the money to the Albanians. We will return a good part of the taxes we collect to the citizens.
I invite you to talk to every family member who may be shaken and every person we know in our circle, this time let's join together. It's not about the power of this or that, it's about ourselves, about business.
These are heroes who have managed to continue. Because many, many others have gone bankrupt. I'll tell you the next, the last figure. From 2023-2024, exports have decreased by 32%.
It's a very serious matter. What does it mean? Thousands of workers have lost their jobs, thousands of companies have closed.
Irresponsible policy. As soon as the euro started to fall, the state should have set up a board and compensated them so that exports could work without headaches, without threats.
We will do this.
We are all number 1. (A2 Televizion)
