The new parliamentary season, with a majority that is officially only one vote away from the qualified majority, will be a new parliamentary reality even for the socialists themselves. For the number two of the pink seat, Blendi Klosi, the fourth governing mandate will be in the service of European integration and not a mechanism to show arrogance with power. Despite being aware that 83 mandates in the Assembly hall will facilitate Edi Rama's governing project.
"Our goal to conclude negotiations with the EU within 2027 will require a great deal of parliamentary work, approval of laws, approval of acts. This will undoubtedly be helped by a large number of MPs, but I emphasize again that it is not about the strength of cardboard, but about the strength of people," said Klosi.
So far, it seems that the Socialists will not use their votes to make a new, one-sided electoral code. According to the General Secretary of the Socialist Party, amending the document that establishes the rules of the game for the elections should be done by consensus with the opposition and not by force of arms, writes A2 CNN.
"The electoral code is a code that requires consensus, more than the number of 84 votes, as it is not a code that is about building a specific institution, but is about the agreement of political forces in the electoral race, where political forces are equidistant from the electoral system and ready to accept the system, the race and the result," said Klosi.
He also has a request for colleagues on the left and right: to end the last-minute practice of amending this important law.
"It would be fantastic if at the start of the new political season we had an approved and agreed electoral code, and things were not left to the last minute, because political and parliamentary life has shown that these last-minute solutions always create anomalies in the process and in the agreement on the process."
In addition to parliamentary challenges, after the summer holidays, the Socialists are also preparing for the process of changes within the party.
"September, as always, has been the moment where, together with the new parliamentary group, the new government formed on May 11, all SP forums will be analyzed, judged and evaluated."
Regardless of the names that will be rewarded by Edi Rama after his fourth victory on May 11, Blendi Klosi says that the Socialist Party has started working on the next parliamentary elections.
"I'm saying it publicly: we have started work for the fifth term, for the 2029 elections." (A2 Televizion)
