In Prekaz, politics came together to honor those who gave their lives for freedom. Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, along with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and other ministers paid homage at the “Adem Jashari” memorial complex.
After laying wreaths and bowing to the heroes, the heads of state did not make a statement to the media, writes A2.
The leaders of the opposition also came to Prekaz. The Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of independence, congratulated all citizens: "On this great holiday for our country, I wish all citizens of Kosovo, wherever they are, a happy Independence Day. It is a day that has concluded the great sacrifice of generations by realizing the request that our people have had for decades and each of us on this day should be inspired and pledge to work harder for our country and to make our Kosovo better. I take this opportunity to first of all congratulate our friends, the leaders of the KLA who are being unjustly held in The Hague, starting with President Hashim Thaçi, Chairman Kadri Veseli, Chairman Jakup Krasniqi, MP Rexhep Selimi and all the others with the wish that this will be the last year that we mark Independence Day without their presence."
The Chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, after the tributes in Prekaz, called for more commitment to preserve the independence and freedom of Kosovo: "We honor in Prekaz, we honor the legendary commander Adem Jashari, the Jashari family, and with this we honor all those who fell for freedom, of all generations of our Albanian nation, at the same time, from the bottom of my heart, I wish Albanians wherever they are, but also all citizens of Kosovo, the independence of Kosovo, at the same time, I also wish our security allies, congratulations, because they have a part, a stake in our independence. We must be aligned to preserve independence and freedom, mistakes in alignment are a danger even to the foundations of our state."
The Chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, paid homage to the resting place of the former historic president, Ibrahim Rugova: "On this 17th anniversary, we also honor all the martyrs, martyrs, heroes of the KLA, the Jashari family, whose sacrifice stands at the foundation of this statehood, as well as we honor our allies."
